Use this product to lower incident energy (and PPE levels) on equipment downstream and/or sequester a main disconnect out of a control panel to isolate the main incoming source of power. A fault clear time (FCT) of 50 milliseconds or less is highly desirable in arc flash remediation work. Using this product the FCT is expected to be less than 20 milliseconds with downstream values of incident energy less than 0.50 cal/cm^2. Fuses are not used in our products because they are not resettable, not adjustable, and cannot operate fast enough. Even though fuses can theoretically open faster than circuit breakers there is seldom enough current available to open a fuse faster than a circuit breaker. A circuit breaker can be adjusted to open very fast throughout a broad range of applications even at low current levels. As circuit currents go up this advantage that circuit breakers have over fuses becomes more pronounced. Test parameters: 1500 kVA transformer delta/wye solidly grounded with 6% impedance, 50 feet of 480 volt bus to distribution equipment, 50 feet of cable to the ZMAC switch, 50 feet of cable to the equipment being remediated.
